As with reading, students learn the rules and conventions that govern the English language in order to spell.  To write phonetically regular words, students learn how to break down words into sounds and syllables. Students learn to spell irregular or ‘sight’ words using simultaneous multisensory practice.  They also learn to use resources to check spellings.  Intervention with letter formation can also be provided where required.
